Dr Shereen Hussein is a Principal Research Fellow (Chair) at the Social Care Workforce Research Unit, King’s College London. Dr Hussein is a leading statistician and demographer in the field of social care and her expertise is sought by various governmental departments. Shereen’s current research focuses on ageing demographics, long term care demand and migration within the UK and Europe. Current and recent projects include the experience of older people from different background; the structure and wage differentials in the long term care sector; and the interactions between organisational and personal factors on job satisfaction, burnout and retention. Shereen is particularly interested in quantitative modelling and combining knowledge from existing and new data sources. Shereen has worked with the United Nations, UNICEF, the Population Council, the World Bank, and the League of Arab States.
